Review: Death by Pins and Needles by Susie Black

The last thing Mermaid Swimwear sales exec Holly Schlivnik expected to find when she opened the closet door was nasty competitor Lissa Charney’s battered corpse nailed to the wall. When Holly’s colleague is wrongly arrested for Lissa’s murder, the wise-cracking, irreverent amateur sleuth sticks her nose everywhere it doesn’t belong to sniff out the real killer. Nothing turns out the way she thinks it will as Holly matches wits with a heartless killer hellbent on revenge.

I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Death by Pins and Needles by Susie Black is a humorous cozy mystery. It’s the second book from the Holly Swimsuit Mystery series.

My favorite character is back with another mystery to solve.

Holly Schlivnik for one more time finds a murdered person at the mart where she works. This time it’s her competitor Lissa Charney. One of her friends is falsely accused of the murder so Holly and the Yentas decide to stick their noses where they don’t belong and find the real killer. Holly doesn’t know when to stop and ends up being a target. The threats and attempts against her made her more persistent in finding that monster. In the end, she hoped that Lady Luck would still be by her side.

“The murder magnet of the mart has solved another one.”

Another incredible book. I love the mix between the odd humor and mystery. Even though it’s a part of a series the plot is different with only a few similarities. I like that we are given the suspects from the beginning but until the end, we don’t know who did it until the end. Holly’s determination and her whole attitude are what make this story so successful for me. One of my favorite parts is the conversations between her and «Doctor Death».

I loved this book and I highly recommend it to everyone. I will rate it with 5 stars.
