My love story all started with a letter.
Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for.
You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months.
So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far.
While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father. Her devastatingly handsome, single dad father.
I should have stopped playing fairy godmother then. I should have left well enough alone. But I just couldn’t help myself. I had a connection to this girl. One that had me acting irrationally.
Like when I showed up on their doorstep.
Happily Letter After by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward is a family romance. It’s about a single dad, Sebastian, his daughter, Birdie and a writer pretending to be Santa, Sadie.
Sadie Bisset was a writer at Modern Miss magazine. She had the dating column and Holiday Wishes. One day in June she received a letter addressed to Santa which surprised her. The letter was from a little girl named Birdie Maxwell, she was asking for a couple of gifts and a special friend for her and her daddy. Sadie was touched by it and decided to make some of the girl’s wishes come true. That started a chain of events that led her to almost «stalking» them. She realized she had gone too far and had to stop but fate had some other ideas for them. Not only she got to meet the little girl but she also met the very hot daddy and eventually fell in love with him. The three of them shared a very strong connection, so despite the very odd beginning they had, they managed to
create a special bond and create a new family.
It’s such a wonderful story, filled with very funny moments, lots of romance, and some emotional moments as well. The story is told by a dual pov, it is well written and has a huge twist that you won’t see it coming. It starts with the sweet and kind of emotional scene with the letter, then it gets funny with Sadie’s weird experiences and her crazy decisions. After that came the
romantic part which got sexier by the moment and then BANG came to the plot twist. Not in a million years, I could have imagined this outcome, it was spectacular. The characters were amazing and so were their background stories. They have great chemistry as a couple and as a family. The book in general has a steady flow since the alternations between each part had gone smoothly and there wasn’t any drama.
I fell in love with Happily Letter After from the beginning. I am so happy that I got to read it and it will be one of my first recommendations for the new year. If you are a fan of the romance genre you have to read this. I will rate it with 5 stars.
A few of my favorite lines:
1) “When I was seven, I asked for a rooster because I wanted fresh brown eggs.”
“But . . . roosters don’t lay eggs.”
“I didn’t say I was the smartest seven-year-old.”
2)Eyes back up.
Raise ’em up.
Come on. You can do it.
